Contacted to respond to Fallowfield Road and Gap Newport Pike for a Chevy Cruze that was off the roadway in a ditch. One of our rollbacks was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, it was found that the vehicle failed to make the 90 degree turn at the intersection, left the roadway, went airborne, coming to rest approximately 35′ off the roadway, and 10′ down into the water drainage area. The area has large rocks and vegetation. The vehicle appeared to have very minor damage and was not leaking any fluids.

It was determined that in order to prevent any of the fluid compartments from being compromised, and any additional damages to the vehicle, that the vehicle would need to be lifted vertically out of the ditch and set back onto the roadway.

One of our long reach sliding rotator recovery units were then dispatched to the scene along with an attenuator truck to assist with closing the shoulder of Gap Newport Pike to allow the vehicle to be recovered.

The attenuator truck arrived and closed the shoulder. The rotator was positioned on the shoulder. The rotator rigged a spreader bar and hooked to the vehicles wheels. The vehicle was lifted straight up off of the rocks and out of the ditch. Once out of the ditch, the vehicle was set onto the awaiting rollback and secured for transport from the scene. The rotator was returned to travel position and all of the rigging was inspected and returned to it’s respective location.

The vehicle was transported to our secure storage yard.
