Contacted to respond to 785 Wesley Road for a loaded Sterling dump truck that had fell through the bridge going in the farm lane. Based upon the information two of our heavy duty wreckers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, it was found that the dump truck had went through the railing on the south side of the bridge. The passenger side front axle and front drive axle both broke through the bridge decking. The truck was in danger of shifting sideways and falling off the bridge completely and into the creek below.

It was determined that there was a field access lane that was approximately 3/4 of a mile through the woods and came out to the next road over. One of our wreckers was able to navigate through the field lane and get to the other side of the bridge to the front end of the truck.

It was also determined that one of the wreckers could position on the bridge with the rear outrigger directly over top of the bridge pier, while the front axle remained off the bridge completely.

The truck was reported to be between 60 and 65,000 pounds.

A plan was established that one wrecker would lift the front of the truck while the other wrecker would lift the back of the truck. The truck would be repositioned so that the front axle was off the bridge on solid ground and the back axle be set back over top of the bridge beams.

The trucks were moved into position and rigged for the recovery. The two trucks worked extremely cautiously together to lift the truck from the precarious location it was in.

The truck was successfully lifted and placed back onto a solid part of the bridge at which point it was above to drive off the bridge and dump its load.
