Contacted by the Chester County Radio Room requesting us to respond to Lincoln Highway and Airport Road in Valley
Township for an accident involving a tractor trailer with approximately 100 gallons of fuel on the roadway. At this point,
we were requested to respond for the spill containment.
With the information we were given, we immediately contacted Null's Recovery & Site Restoration to respond to the
A short time later, we were contacted and requested to tow the tractor trailer from the scene as well.
Upon arrival, our personnel worked with NR&SR personnel to work to contain the spill, which was still actively leaking
from the truck.
Fling's Towing arrived onscene shortly after NR&SR, their personnel worked with ours and NR&SR to pump the leaking
fuel tank, further contain the spill, and eventually clean up the spill from the roadway.
Crews worked onscene with personnel from the Westwood and Sadsburyville Fire Companies, along with the Valley
Township Police Department, and a representative from the Department of Environmental Protection.
Traffic control was in place to protect the crews working onscene and prevent the fuel from being spread further then it
already had been by traffic. As the clean-up progressed, certain lane closures were able to be lifted.
The heavy duty wrecker was used to lift the grate off of one of the storm drains, as fuel had leaked into the drain and
needed to be pumped out by NR&SR.
Once a majority of the spill was cleaned up, our equipment was able to access the truck and trailer without tracking
through the spilled fuel. The truck and trailer were separated. The heavy duty wrecker hooked to the rear of the
damaged tractor. Our truck tractor hooked to the trailer.
Once the clean-up was complete and the scene returned to pre-accident conditions, the truck and trailer were
transported from the accident scene to our facility.
Once at our facility, the truck and trailer were placed in our secure storage yard.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE WESTWOOD AND SADSBURYVILLE FIRE COMPANIES,
VALLEY TOWNSHIP POLICE, AND FLING'S TOWING FOR THEIR HELP ONSCENE.
