| May 18, 2012 This afternoon we were called to respond to Gum Tree Road and Aker Drive for a tractor trailer after an accident. With the limited amount of information available 09 and 90 were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival a Kenworth tractor pulling a flatbed loaded with a plate of steel was found to have collided with a farm tractor pulling a set of rakes. The farm tractor was broken into multiple pieces, the Kenworth tractor had major damage. The plate of steel that was on the trailer had broke the straps as a result of the impact and slid forward into the back of the sleeper. There was also a fluid spill. At that point 121, 12, and Null's Recovery & Site Restoration were all dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival of 121, 09 and 121 set up to lift the plate and move it back onto the trailer. The plate was repositionED and set back in place. The plate was then secured using a combination of chains and straps. 121 was then used to lift and hold the farm tractor away from the Kenworth. 09 then lifted the Kenworth's front end out of the small ditch it was in and set it back onto the roadway. 09 then hooked to the unit and moved it clear of the immediate accident scene where it was prepared to be towed from the scene and separated, 90 hooked to the trailer. 121 and 12 worked to clear the severely damaged farm tractor and rakes from the scene. Null's R&SR worked to clean-up the fluids that had spilled from the damaged truck and equipment. All units then returned to Null's of Cochranville. THANKS TO THE COCHRANVILLE FIRE COMPANY FOR THEIR HELP AT THE SCENE AND WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL. |
