Contacted by the Pennsylvania State Police Lancaster Barracks requesting us to respond to Drumore Township at the
intersection of Lancaster Pike and Scotland Road for a serious motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer with the
axles knocked out from under the trailer. We were advised that both the truck and the trailer would need to be
transported from the scene.
With the information we were given, we immediately dispatched one of our heavy duty sliding rotator recovery units, a
heavy duty wrecker, and our tandem axle flat top dolly along with our skid steer loader for placing the dolly under the
trailer to the scene. Additionally, we contacted Null's Recovery & Site Restoration to respond with one of their Incident
Response Trucks to the scene to assist with clean up and any repairs that would need made to the trailer.
The skid steer loader and flat top dolly were loaded onto one of our rollbacks and secured for transport.
The roadways leading to the accident scene were snow covered and drifting shut. This added time travelling to and
from the accident scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, an International tractor was found to have been pulling a 53' van trailer when an SUV and the
tractor trailer collided. The SUV went in under the trailer knocking the axles completely out from under the trailer. The
trailer came to rest with the ICC bumper on the ground and the tandems sitting in the roadway behind the trailer. The
tractor had damage to the rear drive axle.
One of our portable light towers was setup to provide a safe work environment for our personnel.
The heavy duty sliding rotator recovery unit was utilized to lift the rear of the trailer and hold it while the skid steer loader
worked to place our flat top dolly under the trailer. Once the dolly was in place under the trailer, our personnel worked
to secure the trailer to the flat top dolly.
Null's Recovery & Site Restoration worked to pick up the vehicle parts from the accident scene. NR&SR worked to
secure the wires and air lines on the trailer so that they were not dragging the roadway.
The heavy duty wrecker hooked to the front of the trailer while the flat top dolly was being secured. Wireless towlights
were installed on the back of the trailer. Air was supplied to the flat top dolly.
The heavy duty sliding rotator recovery unit rigged to the damaged tandems. The tandems were lifted and loaded onto
the rollback. The skid steer loader was loaded onto the rollback and secured.
The damaged trailer, tractor, and damaged tandems, along with the driver were all transported to Null's of Cochranville.
Once at our facility, the driver collected some of his belongings from the tractor. The driver was given a ride to the
The truck, trailer, and damaged tandems were all placed in our storage yard.
The skid steer was unloaded.
The heavy duty sliding rotator recovery unit lifted the back of the trailer so that the flat top dolly could be removed. The
chains were removed from the dolly and the dolly removed. The dolly was loaded onto the rollback, secured, and
transported to the location that it is stored at.
